This type of thing is to be expected from Justices Scalia, Thomas, Alito, and Roberts. It appears swing vote Justice Kennedy may join them, although I hope not. Thomas and Scalia never recuse themselves from any cases, although they both had family involved in the 2000 Bush campaign. Thomas’s wife has been involved with people who lobby against the Affordable Health Care Act. And Scalia and Thomas have both attended a political retreat organized by Charles Koch, one of the infamous Koch brothers.
