This was tweeted tonight by Heartland Institute spokesman Jim Lakely:

RT @rsmccain: Did Little Green Footballs LIBEL the Heartland Institute? bit.ly/AuWLry GUILTY! GUILTY! GUILTY! #fakegate

The right didn't like the Pentagon Papers or the exposure of Watergate, either. Great bit of doublespeak there, too: The documents are fake, but you got hold of them the wrong way, too. Well, which is it Mr. Leakily? Either the papers are false, in which case how they were obtained is immaterial, or, the documents are real. You can't have it both ways, however much your sort is used to trying for that.

Way to support the Constitution, you gangsters: Make threats in opposition to the First Amendment and bases solely upon the fact that you don't like your cover being blown. Somebody sign Heartland's TS card so they can go cry on the chaplain's shoulder.

Better Careful

The right-wing doesn't condone accountability or responsibility anywhere, not for themselves, anyhow. They do not like:

  • Whistle-blowers
  • Honest journalists
  • The ACLU
  • Democracy
  • Science
  • Representative government

The right-wing have become authoritarian and self-righteous. The aim is to act as one pleases, while dictating how others must act and what others must think. Certain emotional responses by the public are also stipulated and required. The greater the demands on others, the larger the license to act without regard for consequences; this is part and parcel of the authoritarian pathology, manifested as self-righteousness.

Up with democracy. Down with tyranny.

I'd say that's a funny way to make a denial...Hell, Ashton Kutcher could be both more disarming AND believable!

I'd give a note to Mr. Lakely and the rest of the bright bulbs at the Heartland Institute (and yes, I'm kind of being sarcastic)...don't threaten to sue in the same breathe as you're saying it's fake. If it were so fake, why breathe life into a rumor by suing? Of course, the opposite take is that it in fact IS true (or at least has a kernel of truth the size of Jupiter in it), and in that case they are only making themselves look more foolish then the people they are trying to con.

This could make a pretty entertaining (and telling) movie...Mr. Pitt is probably already getting ready as we speak!

It's possible they learned the "threaten suit regardless of truth" tactic from a certain Romney supporter in Idaho. Stalinesque hooliganism and show trials would follow.
