This morning on NBC's Today, national investigative correspondent Jeff Rossen presented the results of his hidden-camera investigation exposing how simple it is for anyone — even dangerous criminals — to legally purchase firearms, including assault weapons, without undergoing a background check.
As Rossen details, "at gun stores, you have to get a background check before you can buy a weapon. But online, in most states, anyone from law-abiding citizens to dangerous criminals, even terrorists, can get just about any weapon they want, no questions asked."

Rossen points out that there is legislation before Congress that would "close this loophole and require background checks for all gun sales, even online. But that bill has been sitting in committee for nearly a year."

This is really disturbing stuff. I wish Congress would at the very least fix this kind of blatant loophole...but they are so afraid of the NRA they won't do anything.

The NRA is a huge detriment to this country...especially with all the lies and propaganda they spew. In that regard they are just like FAUX news.

Interesting but, in my opinion, this is exemplifies the same tactics used by the right wing to alter opinion. Fear and Hysteria. These tactics seem to work for Republicans and the Right when addressing the lowest common denominator and easily swayed so I guess they figure the peasantry will respond in like.
I think it also represents the inherent shallowness and lack of foresight in choosing to fight a tool instead of the basic causes related to violence in the US of A. It is an easier tactic I suppose but one lacking in thought.

"In religion and politics people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing."
