Holy Cow, I pass out a few hours and return to a party in full force. McSpocky, what did you do?

OK, as instructed from the Jan party; I have two golf carts outside full of supplies and a well supplied drug mule someone told me to bring. Help yourself folks. Oh ya, there are two golf cart Cadillacs filled with some crazy clowns (not a clown car) that is different. One group wants to teach us all how to shake our bootie. The other group is just on another adventure of life.

By the way, golf carts are cool but they need plugged in every now and than. We had to seek outdoor outlets to plug in just to make it here. I stole electricity - guilty. shhhhh..

I hope you didn't bring real clowns to the party, Gen. I hate clowns.

Oh my FFR; I just chocked on my own saliva. Where did you find, "turn my pinkies blue"? Not what I was expecting.

Gen, my cousin sent me this last year. I bookmarked the web site, and found it again. Sadly he passed away last May.

He always wrote funny letters to me that would make me laugh. Then he started sending cards and once I got on the internet, the jokes and other silliness continued. Even when he knew he would die within a year he never stopped sending them. Not as often, but at least one a week. His wife and I are very close too and sent each other a laugh a day. We continue that now. That silliness kept me going when things got tough and I wanted to give up. But that's another story.

It is so hard to loose a friend like that. I lost one a few years ago and still miss her everyday. Friendships like that are rare and can never be replaced. MJ got me through a rough time in my life and I was blessed to have her as a close friend. I know I would not of made it through that event without her friendship. She was the reason I started laughing again and got me out there in life and living it again.

Effie and gen -- you are so lucky to have had friends who knew that the best thing was to just make you laugh. Here I kept winding up with people who thought they had the right to tell me what I should do -- and they had no clue at all what was right for me.

So true Minnie. I'm lucky I had him. He was the instigator of many of my scoldings as a child. Of all the many cousins we are the only two that remained in touch. He was 4 years older than me.

What's funny is we didn't see each other from the time he got drafted in 1965 until 2006 when he and his wife spent a week with us. I had talked to her on the phone many times since they got married and she is just like him. If I don't call her by 9 on Saturday night, she calls me. They/she lives in San Antonio.

Minnie, my friend, MJ lived in Canada. She would visit me and my parents every year and stay for a month and take off again. She was a very giving and kind soul. Like me, she had done so many different things in her life. I need to find an old article about her. She wrote it after being stranded at sea on a damaged sailboat. They hit a reef, half of the boat was underwater on a reef and the captain had a heart attack. Most of the supplies were damaged and could not be eaten. One small boat showed up and had only room for the heart patient. They promised they would send help asap. MJ was 19 and had to keep herself and a nine year old boy alive for 4 weeks on few supplies on a small boat with a huge hole in its side. It took that long for someone to find them again. MJ made it home but no one knew if she was alive or not for 2 months. It is a long crazy story. She was skin and bones when rescued by a large ship that spotted her by accident. No one spoke English so they dropped her off in a dangerous area for any women alone and deadly for a Canadian girl alone. To keep her safe, she was put in jail for 2 weeks by the Sheriff in that community and he would not let her out. Again, no one spoke English. He did managed to find someone to come and get her out of his jail and back home.

Oh ya. She could play any song using spoons:-)) Best spoon player I ever meet:-)) We use to share stories all the time about our lives and adventures. Her stories were better.

Gen. I would be very interested in reading that article if you can find it. Hubby is involved with Coast Guard search and rescue via Ham Radio. He would like to see it too. Thanks.

I will try to find it. It is here or at my parents. I will do my best. I would never give it up, the problem is finding it.. I will scan it and email it to you. I will give you heads up first FFR.

Effie, sorry I am so late. I was visiting 58rose place. She had photos of two woodpeckers. Everyone told her they were Pileated Woodpeckers. I was explaining to rose that there used to be another bird that looked similar but it went extinct when I was a child. Rose kept saying that one of the birds was larger. I got out my magnifying glasses and took a closer look at both birds. I went from shock to excited to giddy. Rose is one lucky individual. One of the birds, the smaller one was a Pileated Woodpecker but the other one was the bird that everyone said disappeared years ago.

She got a photo of an Ivory Billed Woodpecker. I can not wait until I can call my mother tomorrow and tell her about this. It is still alive. Wow.

How lucky can one person be to get a photo of both birds. Everyone thought they were a breeding pair. Nope, they are a different species. Wow. I had to explain this to rose and let her know how lucky she was.. I also wanted her to know that I was not crazy. Talking about a larger bird no one heard about, Who gets this excited at 2am about a bird?

Gen, I just got back here too. I read what you had left at 58's place. It is exciting. I get excited when our Pileated wood pecker shows up too. We have three owls that spend the fall and winter here. They stay in the big oak tree outside the bedroom window and talk to each other all night. The Robins should be here any day. They stay for three days and eat all the camphor berries from the camphor tree in my back yard. I love wild life.

I did not know that Rose was a boy but we were talking about birds. I did think Rose was a girl. I bet he is glad to be rid of me.

The more I read, the more I looked at his photos, I am not sure if that bird is a baby still loosing its baby fuz or a Ivory bill woodpecker. What has me so confused, Pileated woodpeckers do not have white spots and strips on their back. Their back is completely black, the underside of their wings is white. Their beak is black and Ivory bill has a lighter beakr. Both birds look a lot alike.

I spent hours reading about both birds. I was so giddy and then lost my high... Maybe the one bird is a young Pileated molting its baby feathers. I waved the white flag and told him I do not know. He is likely right and I am wrong. I may of wanted it to be the IB woodpecker so bad.

Gen :o) here is where it gets confusing, Rose or Rosie is the dogs name and she is a she. I think of 58 as maybe being a baseball uniform number and he has allowed me to call him 58, but have not had an explanation of the name. He was a ball player and coach.

There's a Rocket Launch tonight at 5:45 pm from Cape Canaveral AF station. Maybe it won't be too cloudy for those who want to try to see it. I hope to get some Photos.

Sorry to gen and 58rose. I left a comment after analyzing pictures and explained that she had pics of PILEATED (larger) and HAIRY (smaller) woodpeckers, not the rare ivory.

But do keep on the lookout for an ivory -- they must be out there because people have had tantalizing sightings and even a video a couple years ago.

Grabbed camera and went outside to wait for launch. Nothing. Back inside to hear they would try again at 6:01. Outside to wait. Again nothing. I guess the launch was scrubbed. It's a Navy communications satellite.

It is very cloudy but I did see Venus shining brightly in the western sky. I did not photograph it because I did not have my tripod handy.

I'm here :o) The launch slipped my mind, I ended up on a call with my son shooting the breeze, he is in Tally at FSU. There was no mention in the news at all about it down here.

Cloudy here tonight too, I did spend some good time last night with the binocs though. This is strange because this time of year is usually so clear, and the summer evenings are hit or miss but very humid.

I've heard that the launches can sometimes be seen from down south and I know they can be seen from the Tampa area. But it was cloudy anyway so not a good chance for you to see it.

Yes I have 2 boys up there in school, the little Rocket Boy was the one I was talking to and he is the youngest in his 3rd year as a Biology major. The older has his Biology degree and is adding a second degree in Health Rehabilitation? He should be finished this year.

You are welcome. The Atlas rockets are big. Not as bright as the shuttle but A thrill when you are as close as I am to them.

It must be exciting for you to have both boys graduating soon and in fields where they will be needed.

Took the Google Earth tour of Lake Pierce, Dundee, and Lake Wales. Lots of lakes, marshes, and canals. The elevation is like 20' above sea level. I live at 1100 ft. elevation, and that is considered the foothils around here. Looks like a cool place to visit for me, only it looks a little warm, humid, and dry for me. And I do not like snakes or anywhere they live. Guess I will stay up here with the bears, cougars, coyotes,bobcats, deer, and elk.

Hey Gen. Where the H have you been? Hope all's well. Can't practice the Spockette's routine without you. Poor Minnie is wearing her fingers out making our costumes by hand so I'm making my own by hand too. Go to the Bin in the closet and pick out material for your costume and pin a note on it with your name. I left some practice routines somewhere around here but don't remember exactly where. Probably in plain site. You know I don't see that good anymore.

McSpocky and his parties keep me coming back to the vine especially when I am dealing with some pest. I bite my fingers and come in here and all is fine....... Ahhhhh, safe place with great friends. I have laughed so hard that I sprayed my screen/keyboard enough times to finally learn. Now I take special precautions before I read some reply or view some video. Saves keyboards and screens splatters and uncontrolled blow-outs.

We made mistakes nearly every year. The first year, we didn’t know that there was such a thing as ‘candied citrus peel’, so we spent ages peeling lemons, grapefruits, and oranges and tossed the peel into our fruitcake batter. The cakes were slightly bitter, but people loved them.

Again I patiently explained that if I had been born the day after the 28th I would have been born on March 1st. So I would still be 7. She threw up her hands in disgust...

Hey deep-Are you sure you see four coons? How much have you had to drink?

We have a few coons here. I was doing laundry in the utility room the other night and two little babies were in there. We feed the Feral Kitties in there and sometimes they don't clean the dish. So the coons come and mess up the fresh water dishes and get mud on the floor. It's worse than cleaning up after kids. They passed a law here that racoons can not be trapped or moved. Go figure. Somehow they disappear(wink) but it's not long before we get another breeding pair. So far no coon has tested positive for rabies in my area. The babies are cute. But I still chase them with my witches broom.

LMAO - I loved their shows. It reminded me of the time my cat got into my stash. Don't worry, cat was fine but it had mj all over the house like cat nip. I lived in an apartment where they steps were so steep and slanted. I was always terrified when people left especially in the winter month.

Gen when my little brother was 14, he stole my sisters mj. It wasn't the first time. She put catnip where she usually kept her stash and waited til she saw him going into her room. She caught him red handed and talked him into helping her roll joints which he sold for 2 dollars each to his friends. She gave him 25 cents from each one. She kept that up for several months until she got spooked when one of her friends got caught selling the real stuff. At that time in the 70's Catnip was 39 cents a box and they got 50 joints from each box. She finally told him what he had sold just before she died in 2004. Talk about a dying confession! We all had a great laugh. He said his friends told him it was the best they ever had

Thanks everybody. We thought it was a great story when she confessed. Growing up in a family with six kids there are many stories. Some sad but most very funny. I really miss her. But she can still make me laugh out loud when I think of her.
