Neil Scolding at the University of Bristol, UK, who was not involved in the new work, says reactivating ageing stem cells may be a more realistic approach for treating MS than transplanting stem cells from a donor.

Hey Mc Spocky, Thank you for posting this article. I am one who is fighting this disease as well. I am currently in the Long Beach V A Hospital undergoing testing for compatibility for a new pill version to the inject able medication Avonex. It has been a tough battle to maintain a "normal" apperance with this disease. This article has my curiosity and would like to know if there are any more articles out there with more information on this subject. stem cells have a very promising approach to treat a multitude of diseases, It probably will help me further in the future...if I live long enough. The ravages of MS that has ruined my body and has caused me horrendous problems is understated. Anything new and promising has my interest to share with others.Thank You again for giving all some better hope in the future.

I'm glad this is some good news for you, and I wish you the best in your battle with your illness.

There is some more information here: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1934590911005807

I think it costs to get the full report, though.

I found it by following a link from here.

smellsofpoo- My sister suffers from MS also. Every day I pray that someone will discover the root cause of the disease and how to cure it. I know that sometimes the meds given during times of relapse cause the body to bloat from the steroids and it is hard to lose when it takes all one's strength just to walk normally.

I hope this discovery leads to a new treatment that either cures or significantly reduces the symptoms. My thoughts are with you.

Thank you all, This is a daily battle, but I keep my spirits up with every accomplishment that I still can do. Thank you also for the link, yes it costs for the whole link, got lucky here, the Dr has given me 3 DVD's and an up to date hand-book for MS. I will have some new material to share when they release me from here. Will try to get the finance for the whole link later. bethcat, I know what your sis is going through, just be there for her when you can this monster will destroy ones personal pride and the stares from ignorant people, or just plain rude. MS is on the brink of an amazing discovery, I pray for this every night. Hang in there.
