Listing & invitation to the groups I've created

Advertise | AdChoices

I invite you to take a look at the groups I've created, (some now owned by others) and send a request to join any, or all, if you're interested. These groups are primarily for progressives, however a few are for people of any political persuasion.

Last Updated 03/13/2012

The links to the groups are:

Absolutely NO Politics (Dowser)
This group is for those who want a break from politics. Join this group if you are tired of all the political bickering, and want to get away from it all.

American Politics
This group is for politics in America (USA). All political parties welcome. Left, Right, Center, Up, Down, whatever. It's all good.

America's CHILDREN (daMamma)
The importance of our children is too often ignored. We let children in our country go hungry, lack proper education, we don't place enough emphasis on keeping our children healthy, and we ignore many things happening to our children in our society in general. This group is for people who realize that children are our future, and that we need to raise awareness about everything that affects the well being of our children, their lives, and their futures.

Anti Discrimination
This group is for those who believe people should not be discriminated against because of Age, Ancestry, Creed, Disability, Genetic Testing, Marital Status, National Origin, Race, Religion, Sex, Sexual Orientation, etc.

Climate Change - Human Caused
This group is for people who know global climate change is human caused, and wish to share seeds and article on the topic. Deniers will not be accepted into the group.

Computers & Internet (mstanley2265)
I have started this group is for sharing personal computer and Internet stories. It is also for helping one another, when possible, with computer and Internet questions.

Elephant POOP!
This group is for sharing stories about the right wing (Republicans, Teapublicans, Tea Party) taking a dump on America.

FIRED UP DEMOCRATS!
This group is for Democrats who are fired up and want others in our Party to be fired up too. It is our responsibility to keep the Democratic interest strong, and the Democratic voter turnout high, or risk losing control of our government to right-wing extremists.

Glenn Beck's BS (proglib)
This group is for people to expose the lies, hypocrisy, false accusations, hate, hyperbole, vitriol, and outright nastiness spewing forth from the mouth of Glenn Beck.

Government & Industry (bore-head007)
This group is to discuss relationships between the government and industry. Sometimes the government and industry work hand in hand. Sometimes the government and industry are going head to head.

Green Solutions (CrowMeris)
This group is to discuss GREEN solutions for keeping a clean environment, producing energy, energy reduction, green transportation, green industry, living green, etc.

Hunger in America (Arkansas Gloria)
With the United States being second only to the European Union in exporting food, there should be no reason for Americans to go hungry. Nonetheless, 49 million Americans suffer from food insecurity, of which 17 million are children. This group is to discuss the problem of hunger in America, and what can be done about it.

Kochtopus
This group is for sharing information about the Koch brothers, Charles and David, as well as Koch Industries, and anything else having to do with the Koch brothers attempted takeover of American politics.

Long Term Unemployed (The Desert Rattler)
This group is for information about, and information for, the long term unemployed. We believe the vast majority of long term unemployed are NOT unemployed by choice.

Newsvine Honor Vine (mstanley2265)
Members promise to try to:

1. Be familiar with and follow the Newsvine Code of Honor (CoH).
2. Be CIVIL in their commenting and discussions with others on the vine.
3. Flag comments that are inflammatory, but
4. Do not flag comments only because they disagree with them.
5. Remember to vote for articles and seeds that you like.

Obama Supporters
This group is for people who stand behind President Barack Obama, and believe he is doing a good job as the 44th President of the United States.

Positive Economic News (daMamma)
This group if for people to share positive economic news with one another. This includes economic recovery, job creation, job growth, etc. No naysayers please!

Progressive American Rights
This group is for people who want to stand up for their progressive American rights. Share stories and seeds about people standing up for their progressive American rights. Share stories and seeds about progressive American rights that are under attack.

Racism Watch
Expose racism in America, in the news, and on the internet.
Racism in our country has grown to epidemic proportions, and needs to end.

RepubliCON Watch (feliznavidad)
Expose the shady dealings, lies, cover-ups and hypocrisy of the Republican Party, Tea Party, and their right wing pundits.

Restore America's Compassion (js-445607)
This group is for sharing information about America's lack of compassion for its citizens, and ways that American compassion can be improved.

Right Wing Media LYING
This group is for sharing stories about the Right Wing media blatantly lying to the American public!

Rush Limbaugh Sucks
This group is for people to expose the lies, hypocrisy, false accusations, hate, hyperbole, vitriol, and outright nastiness spewing forth from the mouth of Rush Limbaugh.

Save Environment Save Wildlife
Share information about environmental issues and wildlife conservation. Bring issues that need addressed to public awareness. Be Greener!

Tea Party Comedians (proglib)
This group is for sharing those Tea Party stories and pictures that make you wonder if Tea Partiers are a group of comedians.

U.S. Immigration Reform
This group is for discussion of illegal immigration reform. We oppose the vilification of illegal immigrants, and acknowledge they have benefited our country rather than hurting it. We believe that undocumented workers already in the United States should be made legal citizens, and the southern border made more secure.

World News 1
This group is for news having to do with world current events. This group is NOT for U.S. news, unless it is international in nature.

Thanks for the friend invitation. I am taking you up on it, but I want to choose carefully, otherwise I'll find myself in over my head. A question; sometimes, I find it hard to "bite my tongue" after reading some ridiculously ignorant or biased comments, and in response I've used the comment box to say how I feel about that. Will that cause me problems?

I look at the comments in peoples history to see if they will fit into a group or not. For example, if a person has made a lot of comments bashing President Obama, I'm not going to approve their request to join the Obama Supporters group...because that's for, you guessed it, Obama Supporters!

Likewise, if a person wants to join the Save Environment Save Wildlife group, and they have a history of making comments about cutting down all the rainforests, or killing off endangered animals, then I won't approve them for that group.

See how it works?

It has nothing at all to do with the color of your skin, RetiredAFNCO, as you suggested in your comment.

If you want to join American_Politics for example, RetiredAFNCO, there would be no problem.

And since my approval to groups has to be basically a judgement call, I don't usually give reason why I reject accepting someone into a group. It can be something as simple as they haven't left very many comments on the vine yet...

Politics are for people who have no control over their own lives and prefer to lay that at the feet of others so they have someone to blame when nothing goes right.

Politics are for people who have no control over their own lives and prefer to lay that at the feet of others so they have someone to blame when nothing goes right.

Politics is the natural outcome of any group of people larger than one. Sooner or later debate must be entered into and compromises made. Politics created this nation and every nation before and since. And in the end... politics has brought as much good as bad for such is the nature of the beast.

...Think about it. Politics is just a name for the way we get things done... without fighting. We dicker and compromise and everybody thinks he has received a raw deal, but somehow after a tedious amount of talk we come up with some jury-rigged way to do it without getting anybody's head bashed in. That's politics. The only other way to settle a dispute is by bashing a few heads in... and that is what happens when one or both sides is no longer willing to dicker. That's why I say politics is good even when it is bad... because the only alternative is force -- and somebody gets hurt.

You take for granted that debate requires politics.

Politics are not for me. I've no patience for the foolishness, the shenanigans, the idiocy, the theivery, the deception, and I certainly am out of patience with the men who have perfected all the above. I outgrew all that nonsense years ago, and it's a true disappointment to see that those making a show out of running my life, as well as my country, have yet to overcome the handicap.

But, if it works for you, by all means, allow it in your life. I only control my own world. :)

Politics starts at the grass root level. My parents taught me when I was very young to get involved, especially at the local level. They said if you don't like the way things are, you have no business complaining if you are not working for the best possible candidates and issues. I began at age 16, and now, at 72, continue to work. My values and beliefs differ from my parents in many ways, but I still think they were right on in this area.

Thanks, McSpocky, appreciate the invitation and will look in regularly. Do I just save your email, or how do you recommend I stay in touch. An old novice named Greta. Oops, just saw the answer below.

I do worry about the "way" you look, sometimes....but, then again, it IS the inner-self that really counts, right???

My "thing" is fighting for the protection of "victims" being children and the elderly. The elderly become the continuation of all sectors of abuse that we see start with the young.

"White-haired" beings with wrinkles and faded vision become a blur of unseen human beings that even as they cry for help, are unheard. Unless, we work harder on the survival of mankind from birth to death, very little else in life will survive.

Little children being left in vehicles as the parents so easily forget of their presence is UNREAL! Today, another baby died because the parent "forgot".

Note to parents: Turn around and look behind you!

An elderly woman was given a medication that she was allergic to, which was noted on her chart as she entered the nursing home. Her death was hastened subsequently as she began to have a lingering reaction to the medicine.

Note to medical staff: Read the medical records and look at the patients!

Just venting......again!

Feel free to come here and vent anytime you like. At times, I have to go find someone who will allow me to vent too.

People don't seem to know how to treat other human beings at times. Like you are talking about with the young and the elderly. The same is true when it one human who is interacting with another that is different, whether it be because of race, sex, color, religion, etc. People need to learn to accept people who are different than they are. I wonder what it will take for that to happen? Hmmm... seems like I did a tiny bit of venting myself.

I agree with you completely. Originally from MN, I subscribe to Hubert Humphrey's comment: a society is judged by how they care for those in the dawn, dusk and shadow of life. It seems our country is becoming more and more narcissistic.

I agree that people must learn to consider "others more" regardless of differences, but, if everyone began to consider "themselves less", maybe the above would naturally correct itself?
