The health care debate featured no shortage of rumors designed to misinform the American people about the Affordable Care Act. And while the debate has ended and implementation of the new law has begun, the rumor mill hasn't slowed down. The latest rumor is the unfounded charge that "America's wounded warriors face a new tax on prosthetic limbs and other vital medical devices." Nothing could be further from the truth.

The Affordable Care Act builds upon the Obama Administration’s commitment to caring for veterans and active duty military ensuring they have the highest quality health care possible. The Obama Administration has already provided a historic increase for veterans’ health care. The President’s Budget expands access to VA health care to an additional 500,000 veterans who were previously denied coverage and helps improves medical care services for veterans in rural areas

Lies lies and more lies. People can get away with this crap cuz no one actually reads the bill. I sat down and over a week or so period read the monstrosity so that when people said that I could shut them up. And people then say well I don't have time, well neither did I yet I did it so why can't you? And if you don't know for certain that stop talking like you do. Obama has done more for veterans than any other president in recent history. It is one of the high points of his presidency so far.

Let's see, during the last administration we saw our over-night motel no longer provided for free when we had to travel 200+ miles to the closest VA. His VA prescriptions went up even though our income stayed the same.
In the last year or so, we've see great improvement to the quality of care and the easy access to his doctor & nurse. The folks that answer the phones are knowledgeable and caring. This is totally different to what we've experienced in the past...and, it will only get better!

That is GREAT news and a resounding confirmation. I asked my Uncle who works with the VA and he said some very similar things. He said ya know it still sucks, they don't get everything they need and its very hard, but there is a definite noticeable improvement in the speed that the funds do get there and in the promptness of care and quality of care. It's a step in the right direction but a long way to go. It was something like that at least. It is the least our President can do and the least we Americans should expect for our veterans.

one- not sure where your uncle is located, but, we've always had decent care in Abq and the one time he went to the Amarillo VA, it wasn't bad...it's the mechanics that have definitely gotten better! And, the liaisons!

He is in Michigan and I am not sure of the exact hospital he goes to. He is 2 or 3 hours north of Kalamazoo.

I've noticed swapping stories with others, the larger the population, the worst the VA seem to be...glad there's less than 100M here! :)

Duh...do not multi-task!
1M is how it should have read

About time! How any administration can start a war without planning for the soldiers to come home baffles me. Maybe they just weren't planning on anyone ever coming back.

I'm glad that we have a President now, who cares about the solders AFTER they come home too!
